MTC Training is a multi-award winning Independent Training Provider delivering high quality engineering apprenticeships and upskilling training courses.

The role of Curriculum Leader (Higher Education) is fundamental in meeting MTC Training vision. You will be responsible for the implementation of a robust curriculum for in-centre delivery and for the work-based development of the apprentice in conjunction with our employer partners. This role will also lead on the Level 4 – Level 6 development and delivery for both Apprenticeships and Higher Education courses. Through inspiring leadership, you will manage a number of Engineering Trainers and Apprenticeship Skills Coaches to monitor, track and report on the progress of learners from the start of their apprenticeship through to EPA.

Key activities

  • Deliver classroom theoretical engineering training aligned with awarding body and Skills England Engineering standard guidelines.
  • Mark learner work and provide feedback to support their development after assessment.
  • Manage classroom learner issues and follow escalation processes where required.
  • Ensure the classroom environment complies with MTC Training standards.
  • Create learning resources suitable for your delivery style and that reinforce learning outcomes.
  • Create schemes of work and lesson plans to maximise classroom time.
  • Manage a caseload of engineering apprentices.
  • Monitor the health, safety and welfare of apprentices.
  • Provide end-to-end information, advice and guidance on skills development, apprenticeship assessment and career development.
  • Track progress against standards to ensure apprentices develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required before their planned completion dates.
  • Conduct documented progress reviews with apprentices and their employers in line with funding rules.
  • Monitor apprentice off-the-job records.
  • Complete any funding/MIS documentation such as Breaks in Learning and withdrawals on a timely basis.
  • Plan and assess development competence qualifications for learners on legacy apprenticeships.
  • Plan and assess apprentice knowledge, skills and behaviours, building subsequent action plans where required.
  • Use coaching methods in partnership with training centre colleagues and employers to help apprentices apply knowledge and skills in the workplace.
  • Build and maintain relationships with apprentices and their employers to facilitate effective communication and ensure completion within planned duration.
  • Provide regular caseload progress updates to the leadership team.
  • Collaborate with business development colleagues to identify repeat and new business opportunities.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Level 3 Engineering qualification.
  • Recognised teaching qualification or willingness to gain one.
  • Recognised assessor qualification such as A1 or Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement.

Desirable

  • Functional Skills Level 2 / GCSEs in Maths and English, grade C or above.
  • Recognised quality assurance qualification such as V1 or Level 4 Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice.
  • Recognised coaching qualification.
  • Higher Education qualification (Level 4 or above) in an engineering discipline.
  • Digital training qualifications relevant to education, e.g. Microsoft Learn badges.

Learners’ safety and wellbeing is of paramount importance to all MTC Training employees. The applicant will maintain our safeguarding culture and support the designated safeguarding lead and safeguarding team. The applicant will adhere to our code of conduct and share our commitment to the welfare of children.
