With engagements across all technology departments and industrial sectors, the Senior Manager works with manufacturing clients using the MTC structured engagement process to define the current state of manufacturing operations and financial performance, using relevant assessment and mapping tools to capture opportunities for technology insertion to support business growth strategy.
Responsibilities
- Lead large (>800 hrs) projects with manufacturing clients at their sites and remotely, ensuring customer requirements are met within agreed budgets and timescales.
- Deliver MTC Products & Services programs: manage stakeholders, lead the team to identify and share relevant information, coordinate scoping of opportunities across disciplines, and plan and facilitate workshops/sprints.
- Evaluate opportunities via MTC delivery methods to define work packages with clear value propositions.
- Deliver work packages from the Transformation Roadmap, preparing the business for technology insertion, including manufacturing best practice, capability enhancement, business process re-engineering for innovation, coaching and mentoring for culture change and leadership, and supply chain assessments and development/upscaling.
- Serve as a Technical Governor on nominated projects.
- Contribute to MTC’s ongoing expectations for innovation and product development, including internal projects (IMPs).
- Support Technology Groups in developing technology solutions.
Person Specification
Essential Skills / Qualifications
- Good engineering degree (2:1) and/or relevant experience in Advanced Manufacturing sectors such as automotive, aerospace and defence.
- Experience as a Supply Chain manager and/or Operations manager/director in the manufacturing sector.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in industry, including senior leadership and change management roles.
- Strong balance of theory and industrial application.
- Highly experienced delivering manufacturing or supply chain transformation projects.
- Experience of capacity uplift and production upscaling highly desirable.
- Comfortable as a team member or leader, providing guidance, delegating responsibilities, fostering collaboration and driving delivery.
- Coaching and mentoring junior staff.
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload to meet deadlines and resolve conflicting demands.
- Experience of creating, managing and developing supply chains nationally and internationally.
- History of learning and personal development.
- Pensive personality, able to explain technical and manufacturing method concepts to varying audiences.
- Well-developed problem-solving abilities using methodologies such as 8D, Six Sigma/DMAIC and PPS.
- Conversant with QMS such as AS9100, TS16949 or other sector-specific quality system standards.
- Ability to conceptualise new or alternative approaches, develop programmes of work and package robust solutions.
- Ability to think critically, identify and resolve issues using analytical approach and challenge the status quo.
- High level stakeholder management, internally and externally, demonstrating credibility and integrity.
- Commercially and financially astute.
- Excellent decision-making capability, managing multiple concurrent tasks and prioritising effectively.
- Fully computer-literate with Microsoft Office 365.
- Independent self-starter and completer-finisher.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills with technical information appropriate to the audience.
Desirable Skills / Qualifications
- Over 20 years of experience across multiple sectors, with focus on Advanced Manufacturing and Supply Chains, including senior management roles.
- Willing and able to hold appropriate level of security clearance.
- Able to absorb a wide range of technological developments and identify value for industrial sectors.
- Demonstrated delivery of supply chain strategy, implementation and performance improvements.
- Professional qualifications from ASCM, IoSCM or similar.
- Six Sigma Black Belt.
- MBA.
