The Project Management Office is looking for an individual passionate and experienced to join a centralised PMO. The Project Support Officer is a key enabling role within the PMO, providing high‑quality project, governance, and insight reporting support across a defined portfolio of projects. Working in close partnership with Project Managers, Programme Leads, and senior stakeholders, the role contributes to the effective planning, control, and delivery of projects aligned to organisational priorities. Acting as a trusted point of contact for their portfolio, the role promotes consistency, transparency, and good project discipline, while proactively identifying risks, gaps, or emerging issues. Through strong organisational skills and collaboration, the Project Support Officer supports delivery confidence and contributes to continuous improvement across the portfolio and wider PMO. This role is critical to fostering strong project discipline, supporting informed decision‑making, and contributing to the successful delivery of organisational priorities.

Main Responsibilities
  • Providing high quality project support across a defined portfolio of projects.
  • Onboarding new projects and supporting projects through the full lifecycle, from initiation through to closure, ensuring appropriate processes and controls are applied at each stage.
  • Maintaining and delivering a high volume inbox of project‑related activities.
  • Effectively problem solve Project Management queries.
  • Ensure fluid communication between all stakeholders and harmonise project reporting to maintain consistency and clarity.
  • Proactively alert Project Managers to project related issues – risks/budgets or schedule overruns.
  • Support portfolio‑level and project‑level governance and assurance processes, ensuring compliance with PMO standards, frameworks, and reporting cycles.
  • Prepare high‑quality project and portfolio reports for senior leadership and governance forums.
  • Perform Project Health Checks/Audits.
  • Network of Knowledge forum – set up and hold meetings – sharing lessons, risk & issues, best practice for your portfolio.
  • Champion the consistent application of PMO processes, templates, and standards across the portfolio.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of PMO tools, reporting, and ways of working.
  • Supporting Project managers and coordinators in the use of Microsoft Project and other project tools; specifically ensuring that project plans are kept up to date to ensure reports to senior management team are accurate.
  • Attendance and Collaboration at Monthly Sector Gate/Project reviews.
Person SpecificationEssential Skills/Qualifications/Experience
  • 2 Years Project Support/Management experience.
  • Proficiency within Dynamics D365.
  • Proficient in Excel, and analysing data.
Desirable Skills/Qualifications/Experience
  • Member of APM or APM PFQ/PMQ preferred.
  • Demonstrate leadership, change management and problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
