The Team Leader leads a cell team of 4 to 25 individuals (apprentices, technicians, manufacturing engineers, etc). They ensure the facility operates to appropriate processes and behaviours, delivering performance for safety, quality, cost, and delivery against agreed targets.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance of all appropriate processes and act as a role model for desirable behaviour.
- Be accountable for the cell team’s health and safety.
- Manage the team’s absence and behaviours to meet the expectations of the MTC, including performance management where appropriate.
- Inspire a culture of continuous improvement and empower team members to resolve issues independently.
- Have the authority to stop work and tasks when behaviour or process is inappropriate or unsafe.
- Oversee the cell schedule and its performance against commitments for schedule and cost, while maintaining quality and safety requirements.
- Influence the strategic capability requirements for future development of the cell’s machines and people.

Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience and technical expertise in Metallurgy & Materials Technology or Netshape disciplines.
- Experience managing teams to achieve business objectives.
- Understanding and experience of implementing and executing Lean manufacturing principles within an operational cell.
- Ability to translate customer requirements into a deployed capability installation.
- Determined and resilient in applying quality ethos and standards throughout the workshop.
- Influencing ability aligned with MTC Values.
- Ability to influence without authority.
- High technical and quality process knowledge and ability to apply to practical problems.
- Good oral communication skills and confidence in dealing with a range of people (clients, contractors, designers, directors, plant operators).
- Precise and concise written communication skills.
