Mt Pleasant School is seeking an experienced and passionate deputy principal to join our leadership team. If you are a motivated leader looking for a fresh challenge within a vibrant, supportive, and forward-thinking community, we invite you to apply.

About our school

Located with breathtaking views of the Southern Alps and the Pacific Ocean, Mt Pleasant School is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. We are committed to delivering the New Zealand Curriculum through the IB Primary Years Programme framework. Our approach is centred on rigorous inquiry, balanced with evidence-based science of learning practices. We value highly collaborative approaches to teaching and learning, cultivating strong, positive relationships across our community.

The role

This is a 4-Management Unit (4MU) DP position. As one of two deputy principals, you will work in close partnership with the principal and fellow DP. Currently, this role may require a maximum of FTTE 0.2 classroom release component, depending on 2027 funding allocations still to be confirmed.

A primary focus of this role is leading our high-functioning Learning Support team and overseeing school-wide pastoral care and wellbeing. The position blends core Deputy Principal responsibilities with the Learning Support Coordinator (LSC) role. The successful candidate must have experience in neurodiversity, trauma-informed and restorative practices; learning support/SENCO experience is highly preferred.

We value your expertise: The successful candidate will have the unique opportunity to co-construct specific elements of this role alongside our leadership team, playing to your individual strengths. While potential focus areas include Digital Technology, Schoolwide Assessment/Reporting, HERO implementation, Mathematics, Junior School experience, Wellbeing Approaches or Performance Coaching, we remain open to what you can offer. Please read our application pack for more information regarding this position.

If you are an inspiring leader ready to make a significant impact, we would love to hear from you.
