Responsibilities

  • Assisting the surgical team to provide a quality service.
  • Assisting the surgical team to deliver safe patient care.
  • Supporting the surgical team in the preparation of sterile and non-sterile equipment.
  • Maintaining a clean and tidy environment throughout theatres.
  • Maintaining good stock levels.
  • Working as part of the weekend and on-call rota.
  • Working as part of the team to maintain good working relationships.
  • Communicating well both verbally and in writing.
  • Being able to work under supervision.
  • Able to provide and receive routine information.
  • Providing information to enable the effectiveness of care to be evaluated.
  • Reporting any concern regarding patient care.
  • Maintaining confidentiality.
  • Supervised by the trained nurse, records care.
  • Able to help ensure infection control standards are maintained by all members of the MDT.
  • Able to maintain theatres clean and tidy at all times.
  • Join weekend and night rotation after competence training.
  • Completion of a Care Certificate qualification in Perioperative care is expected.

Qualifications

  • Good verbal and written command of English.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Numeracy equivalent to GCSE.
  • Care Certificate qualification in Perioperative care (may be completed as part of the role).
