Assistant Psychologist position covering both the Critical Care Psychology Service and the Occupational Health and Staff Wellbeing Psychology Service at London North West Healthcare NHS Trust. The role is a 12‑month fixed term contract.

Service Allocation

The post requires 0.6 WTE time in the Critical Care Psychology Service and 0.4 WTE time in the Occupational Health and Staff Wellbeing Psychology Service.

Critical Care Psychology Service

This service covers a 24‑bedded ICU at Northwick Park Hospital (NPH) and a 13‑bedded ICU at Ealing Hospital (EH). The assistant psychologist will work as part of a psychology team with two qualified psychologists, supporting patients, families and staff in a highly stimulating acute medical environment.

Occupational Health and Staff Wellbeing Psychology Service

The service has 2.6 WTE Practitioner Psychologists working within an MDT to support staff wellbeing proactively. The assistant psychologist will be largely based at NPH for this part of the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work within professional guidelines and under the direct supervision of a qualified Practitioner Psychologist to deliver, support and enhance the provision of psychological care for staff of LNWH NHS Trust.
  • The Occupational Health Service is based on all three sites: Northwick Park Hospital, Central Middlesex Hospital, and Ealing Hospital, with its primary base being Northwick Park.
  • Take responsibility for clinically related administration, managing patient records, database and activity recording for the psychology team, collection of statistics and support of audit and/or research projects.
  • Teach in relation to psychological wellbeing and other activities related to clinical governance.
  • Support staff wellbeing initiatives of all kinds throughout the Trust under the direct supervision of a qualified Practitioner Psychologist.
  • Deliver, support and enhance the psychological care of patients and their families within Critical Care services at LNWH NHS Trust.
  • Support staff wellbeing initiatives for the critical care team under the direct supervision of a qualified Practitioner Psychologist.

Northwick Park Hospital: home to one of the busiest emergency departments (A&E) in the country, provides a full range of services including the country's top‑rated hyper‑acute stroke unit and one of only three hyper‑acute rehabilitation units in the UK.

St Marks Hospital: an internationally renowned specialist centre for bowel disease.

Ealing Hospital: a busy district general hospital providing a range of clinical services, as well as 24/7 emergency department and urgent care centre, and specialist care at Meadow House Hospice.

Central Middlesex Hospital: our planned care site, hosting a range of surgical and outpatient services and collocated with an urgent care centre.
