Overview:

Responsible for moving from another banking and/or sales function outside Global Capital Markets (GCM) to GCM to learn the products, services, and processes of the business, prior to moving to a Client Development Officer role within a defined period of time.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop a complete understanding of the products and services of Global Capital Markets business.
  • Learn and understand the specifics of completing a needs analysis for current and potential Global Capital Markets clients and determining viable solutions based on those needs.
  • Develop and maintain a prospect list for new clients and influencers to develop new business opportunities for GCM while promoting all trust services. Start to develop relationships with clients, influencers, and prospects.
  • Remain current on market developments and trends in the industry. Recognize market trends and recommend new product ideas as market conditions dictate.
  • Accompany experienced sales personnel to gain a better understanding of the entire sales process in GCM.
  • Complete and maintain calling activity logs via contact management system as required to provide a record of activity.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:

This position is transitional for an experienced salesperson and/or relationship manager to transition from outside Global Capital Markets (GCM) to the sales function in GCM. This allows the individual the time to learn and fully understand the corporate trust products and processes within GCM prior to selling products to customers on a full-time basis.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor\’s degree and a minimum of 5 years’ professional work, sales, and/or leadership experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 5 years’ professional work, sales and/or leadership experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Prior experience conducting and understanding individual needs analysis of potential clients.

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Advanced degree.
