About the Role
TPS provides independent garages and bodyshops with the high-quality Genuine Parts and products which customers need to ensure they can service and repair Volkswagen Group vehicles. TPS is part of the Volkswagen Group along with Audi, SEAT, Å KODA, Volkswagen passenger cars and Commercial Vehicles. TPS is a national network of TPS Centres with a 1,500-strong national workforce and a management team that prides itself on creating an environment that offers our people a motivating and inclusive workplace where they are recognised and rewarded and are encouraged to go on a journey of Learning and Development.
Nationally launched as a new brand concept in 2006, TPS is based on an Agency Model; this means that Centres stock and sell on behalf of Volkswagen Group UK. TPS has continued to experience rapid growth both financially and in the number of Centres opened nationwide.
Job Opportunity
What will you be doing?
- This role reports into the Business Development Manager Investor and is accountable for managing the operational performance of approximately 11 BDMs.
- Working closely with the Investor, Centres, and TPS Regional Sales Managers to ensure business development plans and KPI performance are met, aligned and incorporated into the brand strategy.
- Managing, monitoring, and delivering an exceptional customer experience through the BDMs and stakeholders is also an essential part of this role.
- Ensure the BDM team achieve/exceed brand business development targets including national campaign KPIs (in their area of responsibility) through the BDM team.
- Provide suitable performance tracking and analysis to the retailers and brand, identifying opportunities that can be capitalised upon in the local area.
- Translate overall sales targets into BDM targets and set challenging but achievable goals.
- Ensure BDMs have a committed focus on delivering excellent customer service, in line with brand ambition.
- Manage and maximise the support from the business investor partner and TPS investors.
- Prepare and present sales performance for business stakeholders.
- Work closely with cross-functional peers to ensure a cohesive strategy is implemented for optimising the performance of the BDM network.
- Work collaboratively with Centre Managers to ensure the BDM strategy is factored into the Centres BIP and overall Centre strategy.
- Regularly review BDM performance and create strategies to capitalise upon opportunities that will deliver optimum performance from all BDMs.
- Manage and motivate the BDM team, conduct 1:1 performance reviews and ensure KPIs are achieved.
- Recruit new staff as required following the appropriate recruitment processes.
- Ensure compliance with business standards and processes, financial, legal and ethical guidelines (including Warranty).
- Maintain an effective relationship with all stakeholders.
Essential Skills

- An ability to effectively engage and communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Proven experience of creating strategies and managing activities to grow and develop business.
- A practical level of business financial awareness to provide valued input, and insight, at an operational level and recognise areas of risk and opportunity.
- Experience of managing national campaigns and activities.
- A proven ability or aptitude for leading and motivating a team to achieve business targets in a B2B or automotive environment.
- A thorough understanding of the core processes necessary to deliver centre excellence in specified area.
- Possess a high degree of IT literacy.
- Minimum GCSE in Maths and English Language or equivalent.
