Overview of the role

Reporting to the Trade Operations Manager, the Trade Client Manager coaches and manages the trade sales activity of the Trade Retailer network. The Trade Client Manager ensures Trade Retailers have the right resources to provide excellent service to trade customers and drives sales activity to achieve targets, including leading by example in sales visits to key customers.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Engage with the management team within each Trade Retailer to support trade sales objectives
  • Arrange and deliver regular training and development visits with Retailers
  • Set up Trade Retailer operations to prescribed standards and SLAs
  • Organise the operational structure of the Trade Retailer to maximise quality and efficiency
  • Deliver on-site consultancy and coaching with Retailer Trade Management and Teams
  • Support Marketing Plan development and implementation with Trade Retailer
  • Present regional updates to senior leadership and customers
  • Drive innovation and pace across all retailer activity and development
  • Support Trade Retailer sales activities, including customer visits, to deliver trade parts sales growth
  • Review regional results to identify best practice and development needs
  • Share best practices across internal and retail teams
  • Review retailer performance and hold monthly review meetings
  • Define and implement sales development activity with business plans for each Trade Retailer
  • Create and implement improvement plans where retailer performance is below target
  • Analyse trade sales performance (turnover and KPIs) to ensure achievement of targets and action plans
  • Produce visit reports detailing actions agreed with retailer management
  • Engage in the launch and sales actions for tactical campaigns with retailers

Knowledge and experience

  • Parts sales background from a manufacturer trade parts team, dealer senior parts manager/sales manager, or aftermarket distributor roles
  • Experience of automotive trade parts distribution operations and sales techniques
  • Analytical approach to activity and diary planning
  • Ability to work on sales and development plans using data to identify opportunities
  • Demonstrated customer-facing communication and negotiation experience
  • Proven track record in sales and target achievement
  • Good understanding of vehicle manufacturer trade sales operations

  • Organised and efficient, able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Analytical approach to strategy and activity development within the region
  • Good presentation and persuasion skills
  • Strong people skills and effective communicator
  • Proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel
