What will you be doing?
Exeter Sea Cadets, based at Canal Bank, is currently looking for enthusiastic and dedicated trustees to join its Unit Management Team (UMT). Exeter is a long-established sea cadet unit that has provided life-changing opportunities for many young people. We currently have 30 cadets who come from all over the area. We are currently looking for enthusiastic volunteers that can support with the governance of a small local charity. There are free training courses available for you to develop new skills, boost your CV and support you in this role. These tasks can also be divided between volunteers, so why not come along with a friend and share the experience?
About The Volunteer Trustee Role
The tasks of a trustee include but are not limited to the following:
- Support the UMT chair to manage a safe, effective, and successful sea cadet unit.
- Support the UMT in ensuring all unit activities and matters comply with appropriate regulations and Marine Society and Sea Cadet (MSSC) policies.
- Support the unit’s fundraising efforts.
- Ensuring that all young people and instructors at the unit are engaged in fun and safe activities.
- Attend a regular UMT meeting – usually one hour, monthly or bi-monthly, on a weekday evening.
