MSP Technologies is a battery energy storage (BESS) manufacturer, seeking a skilled and motivated Project Engineer (Electrical) to join the expanding team to develop new and existing products.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring successful delivery of projects from initial concept to client handover.
- Assess and interpret project briefs to develop into comprehensive project specifications.
- Provide expert advice and opinion to the client and colleagues on project matters.
- Identify site specific control requirements.
- Advise and develop solutions based on client requirements.
- Ensure key project milestones are identified and subsequently achieved.
- Coordinate internal departments and external suppliers to ensure projects run smoothly.
- Be the point of contact on project for clients, suppliers and colleagues.
- Create project related documents and drawings: SLD, Block Cable, Cable Schedules, Site Plans, System GA.
- Draw on previous experience to provide solutions to design issues.
- Identify all installation and commissioning requirements, creating RAMS and ICAL.
- Orchestrate and provide advice to the delivery team, ensuring successful delivery, commissioning, training, and handover.
- Provide expert opinion to the sales team.
Internal Stakeholders
- Project Managers – Provide technical updates, contribute to planning, and ensure alignment with project timelines.
- Sales – Identify and develop the sales scope.
- Production Team – Ensure production are aware of time constraints and site specific requirements.
- Control / Software Engineers – Identify control strategies and customer specific requirements.
- Test Engineers – Partner to develop and execute test plans.
- Mechanical Engineer – Ensure full system development and coordination between different principals.
Person Specification
- Attention to detail with ability to self-assess.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
- Safety-conscious with high attention to detail.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing environments and schedules.
- DBS check to be completed prior to start date.
- A legal right to work in the UK.
Qualifications and Experience
- One or more of the following:
- Degree or HNC/D in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Formal training and qualification as an electrician.
- C&G 2396 Electrical Design.
- Proficient with electrical and mechanical CAD packages.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Electrical or Project Engineering.
- Prior experience of running projects £1-3M.
- Knowledge of renewable and distributed energy systems.
- Competent with knowledge on electrical characteristics:
- AC / DC Networks
- Power Factor
- kVA / kW
- Harmonics
- Proficient in reading electrical schematics and using diagnostic tools.
- Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA systems, and remote monitoring platforms is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel ~75 days on site per year (client meetings, site surveys, installation, commissioning).
