We are seeking an experienced
Director of EMS & Controls Engineering to lead the design, development, deployment and continuous improvement of Energy Management Systems (EMS), control systems and software platforms that power our Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) solutions.
This is a senior technical leadership role combining systems architecture, controls engineering, power systems expertise, software leadership and customer engagement.
The successful candidate will own the technical direction of our EMS platform, ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of grid-scale energy storage systems.
They will lead multidisciplinary teams spanning controls, embedded, firmware and software engineering while acting as the technical authority for customers, partners and internal stakeholders.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in industrial automation, power systems, BESS technology, SCADA systems and controls engineering who can bridge strategic leadership with deep technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and own the architecture and technical roadmap for the company's Energy Management System (EMS).
- Lead the development of advanced control algorithms for BESS and hybrid energy solutions.
- Ensure seamless integration between EMS platforms and site equipment.
- Define system‑level control strategies for energy optimisation, grid services and operational reliability.
- Drive the evolution of software, firmware and control systems to support future product development.
- Lead the design and implementation of control systems for utility‑scale Battery Energy Storage Systems.

- Act as the senior technical interface for customers, consultants and strategic partners.
- Support business development activities, tenders and technical proposals.
- Present complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Build trusted long‑term relationships with customers and stakeholders.

- Ensure systems are secure, scalable and resilient.
