MSP Limited is looking for a skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer (Test) to join our growing team. This exciting role will focus on the testing of high-powered battery systems and driving productivity within our test operations, including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and microgrid environments.

As an Electrical Engineer (Test), you will play a key role in delivering high-quality system testing, supporting R&D projects, and ensuring industry-leading safety and performance standards. You will take ownership of the test facilities while working collaboratively across multiple teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate testing schedules to meet delivery deadlines
  • Liaise with Project Management, Engineering, and Production teams on timelines and changes
  • Maintain accurate testing records, documentation, and data
  • Take ownership of the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Microgrid facility
  • System build and breakdown
  • Test bay management
  • Promote and enforce safety procedures, including creating RAMS and Safe Systems of Work
  • Support and participate in R&D testing and development
  • Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests and assist in product validation
  • Deliver training to customers and internal teams
  • Continuously review and improve testing procedures and documentation
  • Provide technical support (remote and on-site)
  • Identify and escalate risks via Early Warning Notifications (e.g. delays, faults, design changes)
  • Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge (equipment, software, industry trends)
  • Support the upkeep of the facility’s electrical systems (within competence)
Key Relationships

You will collaborate closely with:

  • Project Managers – providing updates, insights, and planning support
  • Production Team – receiving systems and validating handover documentation
  • Control & Software Engineers – replicating system behaviours and control strategies in testing

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline), or Qualified Electrician with relevant certification (e.g. C&G 2391 or equivalent)
  • Strong experience in electrical testing
  • Knowledge of renewable or distributed energy systems
  • Understanding of: AC/DC systems, Power factor, kVA/kW, Harmonics
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and use diagnostic tools

Desirable:

  • Passion for renewable energy
  • Experience with microgrid systems
  • Familiarity with DNOs and utility companies
  • Hands-on experience with installation and commissioning
  • Knowledge of PLCs, SCADA systems, and remote monitoring platforms
