MSP Limited is seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Electrical Engineer (C&I) to develop robust and reliable BESS control and EMS functionality. The candidate will be responsible for a small but specialist team of Software and Embedded Engineers, developing complex controls for system level and EMS.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a mixed team of controls engineers and software developers
- Assess and appraise existing control strategies
- Create new control strategies based on a project/product brief
- Integration of multiple devices with differing protocols
- Focus on safety systems and reliability
- Identify and implement security measures for internal and external networks
- Manage complex client networks
- Ensure new and existing designs comply with relevant standards, safety protocols and compliance requirements
- Provide expert guidance and recommendations on C&I related topics
- Identify and appraise new and existing components for suitability, durability and cost
- Provide support and training to members within the controls and software team
- Prepare and own technical documentation to support the control designs
- Lead projects from pre-sale to handover
- Identify and perform test procedures to validate designs
- Troubleshoot issues and faults in the factory and in the field
- Draw on previous experience to provide solutions to design issues

- Control / Software Engineers – Coordinate on implementing control algorithms (e.g., PID) and integrating them into embedded systems.
- Test Engineers – Partner to develop and execute test plans, especially for high-power systems and HIL simulations.
- Project Managers – Provide technical updates, contribute to planning, and ensure alignment with project timelines.

- Clients – Provide technical updates, contribute to planning, and ensure alignment with project timelines and ensure product suitability.

Education, Qualification and Certification
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or HNC/D in Electrical Engineering or related field or Formal training with PLC, or time-served
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Controls and Instrumentation
- Proficient with: PLC Complex Code, Embedded Software, Communications CAN, MODBUS, SCADA, Hardware Automation
- Strong understanding of hybrid power systems, inverters, and energy storage technologies.
- Competent with knowledge on electrical characteristics and concepts: AC / DC Networks, kVA/ kW
- Proficient in reading electrical schematics and using diagnostic tools
- Prior experience with Energy Management Systems
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel
Desirable Skills:
- Familiarity with renewable energy systems and grid-tied configurations.
- Prior experience with BMS, PCS/Inverter systems, VFD
