The Opportunity

We are looking for an analytical, commercially minded Underwriting Analyst to join our Underwriting Management team.

In this role, you will play a key part in monitoring portfolio exposures, analysing underwriting data and supporting data-driven decision-making across the business.

You will work closely with underwriters, underwriting assistants, actuaries and management teams, helping to ensure the quality, integrity and effective use of underwriting information.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with data, solving problems and influencing business decisions through meaningful analysis and insight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Exposure Management & Data Quality
  • Ensure underwriting exposure data is captured accurately and maintained within specialised modelling and insurance systems.
  • Monitor aggregate exposures and portfolio developments across multiple classes of business.
  • Identify trends, anomalies and areas requiring further investigation.
  • Analysis & Reporting
  • Produce and maintain exposure and portfolio reporting for underwriting teams and management.
  • Support business planning, forecasting, reserving and performance review processes.
  • Deliver meaningful insights that support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Continuously improve reporting capabilities and management information.
  • Stakeholder Partnership
  • Act as a key point of contact for exposure management and underwriting data queries.
  • Work closely with underwriters and underwriting assistants to improve data quality and reporting processes.
  • Collaborate with actuaries, developers and other stakeholders on analytical and business improvement projects.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Support ongoing process enhancement initiatives across the Underwriting Management function.
  • Contribute to projects that strengthen data governance, reporting and portfolio oversight.
  • Stay up to date with market developments and emerging analytical tools.

About You

We're looking for someone who combines strong analytical skills with a collaborative and proactive approach.

  • You Will Ideally Have
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience working with large datasets and maintaining high data quality standards.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues across the business.
  • A commercial mindset and interest in understanding portfolio performance and risk.
  • A continuous improvement mentality and willingness to challenge existing processes.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the insurance or marine insurance market.
  • Experience with SQL, SQL Server Management Studio, Sequel Impact or similar analytical tools.
  • Exposure to portfolio analytics, exposure management, catastrophe modelling or underwriting support activities.
