Founded in 1990, MSI Global Alliance is one of the leading international membership associations of independent legal and accounting firms, with more than 255 member firms in over 100 countries. The combined income of MSI member firms is over $2.2 billion. MSI membership enables firms to support the international requirements of their clients, to access global expertise and best practice, and to benefit from inbound and outbound referral work. Encouraging member collaboration is key, supported by the dedicated resources of a strong secretariat operationally led from the UK.
Due to a retirement, MSI is now looking for a permanent member of staff to be based in the UK.
Candidate SpecificationThe candidate should have sufficient experience and gravitas to operate routinely at a senior level with the CEO (based in UK), members of the Secretariat, Area Representatives (appointed local members in EMEA) and senior partners in member firms. The candidate should possess the ability to develop business and nurture relationships with members. The candidate needs to be a good organiser, with strong management ability and good drive and communication skills (verbal and written). They must be energetic and self‑motivated. The ability to sell ideas and motivate others to action is key, as is the need to demonstrate maturity and emotional intelligence. The candidate must have a track record of progressive responsibility and should be familiar with professional services, the financial sector or business‑related membership organisations.
Key ResponsibilitiesSpecifically, duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Relationship building with and amongst member firms.
- Recruitment of new, qualified firms in desired geographical locations within the region where gaps exist.
- Organising, coordinating, and facilitating both virtual and physical meetings and conferences.
- Communication with (volunteer) Area Representatives and gaining assistance from them in carrying out responsibilities.
- Organization and development of Specialist Interest Groups and webinars encouraging participation both from speakers and attendees.
- To assist with collection of any overdue membership fees.
- Generating ideas to increase a member’s value in its membership.
- Experience of sales and business development and/or relationship building.
- Delivering strategic growth plans.
- Meeting and exceeding challenging targets.
- Proven ability to engage with experienced professionals at leadership level.
- Managing senior level relationships internally and externally.
- Ability to work remotely and semi‑autonomously with a small secretariat team working remotely.
- Comfortable with technology particularly with MS Office and CRM systems and to have good written and spoken communication skills.
- Fully fluent in English.
- Experience of working with professional services.
- Experience of working within a membership organisation or professional body.
The position will be based on hybrid working and the candidate will be required to work in an environment suitable for video calls as required. The person must be prepared to travel up to 20% of their time including some international travel. The person should be prepared to facilitate communication with the Asia Pacific and North American regions and ensure timely communication with the European based secretariat.
