THE ROLE

You will be responsible for the installation, testing, inspection and maintenance of electrical infrastructure associated with street lighting and street furniture. Your duties will include SWA terminations, cable pulling and jointing, fault finding and electrical surveys. The position involves liaising with clients and internal teams on site, ensuring all works are completed to the required standard, on time and within budget. As a rapidly growing business, no two days are ever the same so what you do will vary. The nature of our business and the pace of contracting also means that priorities do change so you will need to be comfortable with this. You will be primarily based in the Podington depot with regular travel between sites and depots along with staying away from home and night work when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • SWA electrical terminations into lighting columns and feeder pillars where required
  • Testing & inspecting on street furniture and the completion of test certificates
  • Working safely and promoting a safe environment for all operations and for all personnel under your authority and others who may be affected by MSF’s activities such as the general public
  • Fault finding
  • Electrical surveys
  • Cable pulling where required
  • Cable jointing
  • Liaising with client’s and MSF personnel on site
  • Carrying out a Risk Assessment prior to the commencement of any work activity
  • Ensure all installations are completed to the correct standard, delivered on time and to budget
  • Completing relevant documentation, paperwork and raising on-site issues
  • Maintain a high level of health and safety as per company policies/procedures
  • Ensure all works are completed as per MSF QEHS policies and procedures
  • Report and QEHS issues to supervisor and via Eyes and Ears App

Candidate Profile

  • Confident to work night shifts and stay away from home if required
  • Physically able to undertake manual work
  • Committed to all installations being completed to the correct standard, delivered on time and within budget
  • Positively participate in all training relevant to your role provided by the company
  • Work to a high level of health and safety as per company policies/procedures
  • Confident to work as part of a team with good communication skills
  • Identify risks and problems on site and provide pro-active solutions
  • You will make full use of all Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E) at all appropriate times provided by the company
  • Checking that your company vehicle is fully maintained and kept in a roadworthy condition and to report all faults and defects via transport app
  • Ensuring all the working areas of the vehicle are kept clean and tidy, and to ensure that all tools and plant allocated to the vehicle are maintained

Qualifications

  • CSCS/ECS Card holder
  • G39, IPAF, City & Guilds/ NVQ or equivalent in electrical installations
  • Inspection and testing
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Electrical Street Lighting experience is desirable but not essential
  • Committed to ensure all works are completed as per MSF HSEQ policies and procedure and reporting of any HSEQ issues to supervisor via the Eyes and Ears App
