  • Produce design calculations, drawings, and specifications using relevant lighting design software and CAD tools.
  • Undertake site surveys, condition assessments, and feasibility studies to inform new schemes, upgrades, and LED/energy‑saving projects.
  • Ensure designs comply with current standards and legislation (e.g. BS 5489, EN 13201, wiring regulations, CDM, local authority requirements).
  • Coordinate with highways, civil, and traffic teams to integrate lighting with wider highway and public realm schemes.
  • Provide technical support during installation, testing, and commissioning; respond to design queries and update as‑built information.

Candidate Profile

  • Background in electrical or lighting engineering with experience in street lighting or exterior electrical design.
  • Proficient in lighting and electrical design software (e.g. lighting calculation packages and CAD) and able to produce clear drawings and reports.
  • Good knowledge of highway contracts, standards, and health and safety requirements for works on the public highway.
  • Strong communication skills to work with local authorities, consultants and contractors to explain technical issues clearly.
