Reporting to the Companion Animal Technical Lead, with a close working relationship with the Regional Sales and Technical Product Support Managers, this role is responsible for providing specialist veterinary expertise on all aspects of the Company's companion animal products both in the field and to customers contacting the Technical Product Support Team. Emphasis with this role will be towards field-based activities; technical training and in-field support of sales team, with time also spent on activities such as Specialist/ Key Opinion Leader relationship development, while implementing the technical strategy to meet identified company objectives.

This role is based in the field and will require a significant amount of time to be spent travelling within and sometimes outside of the territory - including but not limited to visiting customers, attendance at sales meetings, Head Office, and other activities.

Responsibilities:
  • Customer and Field Sales Team Support (50-60%)
  • Build upon our reputation as the technical experts in the market areas in which we participate.
  • Work autonomously with clinics to improve patient outcomes, providing technical training and support to the practice team.
  • Working closely with the Regional Sales Managers (RSM) and allocated Account Managers, actively build and drive account plans for the territory.
  • Develop technical programmes which add value to our key veterinary practices.
  • Through collaboration with the RSM and Lead Field Veterinary Advisor, develop and maintain the sales team technical knowledge.
  • Identify ongoing technical training needs and deliver comprehensive in-house technical training at various levels and time points to ensure that all staff who require it are correctly trained on the relevant small animal products and markets.
  • Be a key point of contact for complex technical queries, training and support needs.
  • Feedback relevant technical & marketing intelligence to head office teams.
  • Conduct all activities whilst remaining compliant with the National Office of Animal Health (NOAH) code of practice, as well as pharmacovigilance requirements.
Technical product Support
  • Be available on a daytime-only rota to respond to any companion animal technical queries or complaints in order that the company may provide high quality and professional sales support for its products.
  • Manage technical enquiries that are forwarded from the TPS Team in a timely manner and to their resolution.
  • Ensure all cases are entered on the Salesforce CRM reporting system correctly.
Key Opinion Leader (KOL) and Other Key Customer Relationships
  • Liaising with the brand technical leads, inform and develop KOL plans in universities, veterinary practices and other institutions allowing identification and development of opportunities for collaboration.
  • Participate in key business meetings, local or international.

In the fulfilment of these roles, it is expected that duties will require a reasonable level of attendance at evening and weekend meetings which may in some circumstances require overnight stays away from home.

Your Profile:
  • A UK-recognised veterinary degree and Member of the Royal College of Veterinary (MRCVS) with a valid UK driving licence.
  • Significant experience working within UK Companion Animal First Opinion Practice.
  • Ability to communicate technical training in a relevant, effective, and engaging format to varied audience members.
  • Outstanding communication skills both verbal and written with a fluency in English a requirement.
  • Persuasive and able to successfully influence others.
  • Good time-management, project-management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to brief and manage the relationship with external stakeholders and influencers.
  • Ability to handle confidential issues.
  • Ability to operate and communicate effectively at various levels, both within and outside of the Company.
  • Energetic and resourceful with the ability to initiate and manage change.
  • A team player.
Desirable:
  • A veterinary or other post-graduation qualification in relevant area of interest.
  • Understanding of the pharmaceutical sales function.
  • Commercial acumen including good understanding of industry-relevant financial data.
  • Network of Key Opinion Leader relationships.
Location:

This position will suit someone located in the North of the UK: Scotland, Scottish Borders, within reach of the M6-A74(M) plus or minus of the A1(M).
