Calibration Technician

Are you an expert in keeping critical manufacturing systems running smoothly and accurately? We are looking for a skilled Calibration Technician to join our integrated production team. In this hands‑on role, you will be the guardian of our process instrumentation — ensuring everything is accurate, compliant, and fit for purpose to support top‑tier manufacturing, product quality, and site reliability. If you thrive in a dynamic, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environment and enjoy diagnosing complex faults while balancing planned maintenance with urgent production demands, this is the role for you.

What You Will Do

  • Core Responsibilities
  • Systems & Equipment You'll Master Calibration & Maintenance: Execute planned calibrations, fault‑finding, and corrective repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Measurement: Temperature (RTDs/thermocouples), pressure, flow, level, and humidity sensors.
  • Testing & Commissioning: Support the installation, loop checking, and qualification of new instrumentation.
  • Analytical & Control: pH/conductivity probes, process control, and electro‑pneumatic systems.
  • Quality & Compliance: Identify, report, and investigate out‑of‑tolerance (OOS) results while maintaining strict GMP records.
  • Facilities: HVAC, autoclaves, sterilization systems, and core utilities (steam, water, air).
  • Safety First: Actively champion site safety, strictly adhering to Permit to Work systems (e.g., confined space, electrical, height).
  • Software: Utilizing Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to document all work.

What You Bring to the Team

We are looking for a proactive problem‑solver with high attention to detail who can work seamlessly both independently and as part of a highly skilled team.

Essential Requirements

  • Education: City & Guilds Level 3, recognized Apprenticeship, or equivalent in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Control Engineering.
  • Advanced Education: BTEC, HNC/HND in a related engineering discipline, or specific calibration certs.
  • Technical Skills: Strong ability to interpret P&IDs, wiring schematics, and instrument loop drawings.
  • Industry Experience: Background in a GMP‑regulated pharma, biotech, or medical device facility.
  • Hands‑On Expertise: Proven competence with calibration standards, measurement principles, and test equipment.
  • Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with PLC, SCADA, BMS (Building), and EMS (Environmental) systems.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to participate in weekend/out‑of‑hours overtime and breakdown call‑out rotas.
  • Continuous Improvement: Experience participating in deviations, investigations, and corrective actions.
