This is not a payroll processing role. Instead, the position is focused on system configuration, technical support, integrations, compliance enablement, and platform optimization to ensure scalable, compliant, and high-performing payroll operations within Workday.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of Workday Payroll for the UK, including configuration, testing, validation, and deployment activities.
  • Configure and maintain Workday Payroll components, including earnings, deductions, taxes, pay groups, calendars, and payroll processing frameworks.
  • Design, build, and maintain inbound and outbound integrations related to payroll (e.g., benefits providers, finance systems, time tracking, third-party vendors).
  • Troubleshoot payroll system issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective configuration or integration fixes.
  • Partner with Payroll Operations and HR to translate business requirements into scalable Workday solutions aligned with UK regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with UK payroll legislation and statutory reporting through system configuration updates and testing.
  • Support payroll-related Workday releases, including impact analysis, regression testing, and feature enablement.
  • Develop and maintain reports, calculated fields, and dashboards to support payroll reconciliation, audit, and financial processes.
  • Drive continuous system improvements by identifying automation opportunities and optimizing payroll-related workflows.
  • Provide technical documentation and knowledge transfer to internal stakeholders and support teams.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel:

  • Proven experience supporting or implementing Workday Payroll, preferably including UK Payroll.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Workday Payroll configuration (earnings, deductions, taxation, pay groups, calendars, retro processing, etc.).
  • Experience designing and supporting Workday integrations (EIB, Core Connectors, Studio preferred).
  • Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and statutory compliance requirements from a system configuration perspective.
  • Experience supporting Workday releases and managing change in a production environment.
  • Proficiency in Workday reporting, calculated fields, and data validation techniques.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose system and integration issues.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with HR, Finance, and Technology teams in a structured, project-driven environment.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts to functional stakeholders.
