Your Team Responsibilities:
The Associate - Index Input Data (IID) will be a key contributor within MSCI's Index Data Operations team in Manila. The role focuses on the delivery, quality, and integrity of index input data that supports MSCI's global suite of Equity Indexes, Risk Models, ESG Ratings, and related products.
This position requires deep domain expertise, strong analytical capability, and hands-on execution. The Associate will work closely with global partners across Index Research, ESG Research, Technology, and Data Operations, contributing to data quality enhancements, automation initiatives, and continuous process improvement. While not a people manager, the role carries significant ownership, influence, and subject-matter responsibility.
The role is expected to leverage approved AI tools to support day-to-day activities such as analysis, documentation, and quality checks, while exercising appropriate judgment and controls. The role will also contribute to the identification of opportunities to apply AI and automation to improve efficiency, scalability, and consistency across Corporate Events processes, in line with MSCI's governance and risk standards.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Operational Excellence
- Responsible for end-to-end processes for acquisition, validation, onboarding, and maintenance of index input data, including ESG, fundamental data, and other 3rd party vendor data sets.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of index input data for use in rebalancing, screening, and index calculation.
- Implement robust data quality frameworks, including anomaly detection, risk scoring, and proactive controls.
- Drive automation, workflow optimization, and adoption of advanced technologies (Python, SQL, Power BI, AI/ML solutions).
- Leveraging approved AI tools to support anomalies detection and monitoring efficiency.
- Contribute to further improving processes and applications including identification and support of AI and automation opportunities.
Governance Risk Management
- Champion the use of the Risk Scorecard framework for dataset evaluation, proactively identifying risks and embedding fallback methodologies.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory, compliance, and index methodology standards, with clear documentation and audit readiness.
- Translate MSCI's index methodologies and data standards into local operating practices, ensuring quality alignment across all regions.
- Using AI-assisted analysis and checks where appropriate, with full human oversight.
Client Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with Index Research to evaluate new datasets and integrate proprietary data sources into MSCI's methodologies.
- Support Index and Data Committees with insights, presentations, and recommendations based on data quality analysis.
Your skills and experience that will help you excel:
- Education: Masters degree or higher in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related discipline. Professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, or MBA are a plus.
- Experience: 4+ years in financial services, capital markets, or data operations. Proven experience in equity data management, index operations, or related domains.
- Comfortable using AI-enabled tools to support analysis, research, and process efficiency, with an understanding of appropriate controls and validation.
- Proficiency in Excel with the ability to manage and analyze large data sets effectively.
- Foundational knowledge of programming and data technologies such as Python, SQL, and Power BI, with the ability to apply them in data processing, automation, and visualization.
- Strong understanding of global equity markets, corporate actions, float methodologies, and ESG factors.
- Demonstrated success in leading transformation programs involving automation, workflow redesign, or new data products.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to balance detail orientation and strategic thinking.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to influence and collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders.
- Comfort working in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment with global time zone flexibility.
