We are seeking a Workday Payroll Technical Analyst to support the implementation of Workday Payroll for our UK office and provide ongoing technical ownership of the platform. This role will partner closely with HR, Payroll Operations, Finance, and HR Technology teams to design, configure, maintain, and enhance Workday Payroll solutions. This is not a payroll processing role. Instead, the position is focused on system configuration, technical support, integrations, compliance enablement, and platform optimization to ensure scalable, compliant, and high-performing payroll operations within Workday.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of Workday Payroll for the UK, including configuration, testing, validation, and deployment activities.
  • Configure and maintain Workday Payroll components, including earnings, deductions, taxes, pay groups, calendars, and payroll processing frameworks.
  • Design, build, and maintain inbound and outbound integrations related to payroll (e.g., benefits providers, finance systems, time tracking, third-party vendors).
  • Troubleshoot payroll system issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective configuration or integration fixes.
  • Partner with Payroll Operations and HR to translate business requirements into scalable Workday solutions aligned with UK regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with UK payroll legislation and statutory reporting through system configuration updates and testing.
  • Support payroll-related Workday releases, including impact analysis, regression testing, and feature enablement.
  • Develop and maintain reports, calculated fields, and dashboards to support payroll reconciliation, audit, and financial processes.
  • Drive continuous system improvements by identifying automation opportunities and optimizing payroll-related workflows.
  • Provide technical documentation and knowledge transfer to internal stakeholders and support teams.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • Proven experience supporting or implementing Workday Payroll, preferably including UK Payroll.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Workday Payroll configuration (earnings, deductions, taxation, pay groups, calendars, retro processing, etc.).
  • Experience designing and supporting Workday integrations (EIB, Core Connectors, Studio preferred).
  • Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and statutory compliance requirements from a system configuration perspective.
  • Experience supporting Workday releases and managing change in a production environment.
  • Proficiency in Workday reporting, calculated fields, and data validation techniques.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose system and integration issues.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with HR, Finance, and Technology teams in a structured, project-driven environment.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts to functional stakeholders.
