Are you ready to tackle new challenges and make a significant impact? Join our team as a Vessel Planner! Planners are key in our business, at the core of our operations. They guarantee the safe and efficient loading of our cargo, focusing on cargo flows, routing, transhipment port coordination, reliability, and efficiency within the network, and maximisation of vessels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan vessels to optimum capacity considering constraints of vessels and ports.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with vessel captains, chief officers, port planning department, liners, port captains, and agents.
- Liaise with Master and Chief Officer on stowage-related topics.
- Manage and coordinate booking figures from port agents and communicate with Network team.
- Optimise cargo flows focusing on rollover, overbooking, underutilisation, critical cargo prioritisation, and reefer plug limitations.
- Prepare cargo contingencies.
- Compile and analyse cargo volumes from export and transhipment teams.
- Drive and facilitate cargo reliability strategy within the network.
- Coordinate solutions for utilisation and cargo flow optimisation.
- Report reasons for restow moves for network analysis.
- Ensure compliance with IMO regulations.
- Monitor non-compliance or deviation.
- Maintain voyage instructions for vessels.
Further skills and experience required:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and competent verbal and written understanding of the English language.
- Nautical experience on a container vessel or within a container terminal is a plus.
- Ability to work flexible hours as required by the business.
- Demonstrate a professional manner at all times.
- Desire to work proactively and on their own initiative as well as working as part of a team.
- Proven ability to plan and prioritise work, meet strict deadlines and be flexible in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Open mind and logical thought process as well as nautical knowledge and expertise.
- Resilient and calm under pressure.
- Advanced numeracy, literacy and IT skills with applications such as Power BI, Microsoft Office suite and Vessel Stowage software.
