Where passion meets opportunity. The Voyage, Fuel Planning and Controlling Specialist will be responsible for conducting business and operational research, analytical studies and reporting on Voyage Consumption across the MSC fleet. This role focuses on continuous improvement by identifying operational efficiencies, monitoring key performance indicators, and providing clear, insight‑led recommendations to enhance overall business performance. The position also involves supporting Itinerary Planning through data‑driven research, scenario analysis and performance evaluation.
Your Impact
- Conducts applied research and analysis on Voyage Consumption patterns to provide actionable business insights.
- Contributes to prepare annual fuel budget and quarterly reviews.
- Develops and maintains real‑time intelligence dashboards using Power BI, SQL, and cloud‑based data platforms to support operational and business research.
- Carries out regular variance analysis (actual vs budget across multiple metrics) to identify trends, anomalies, and efficiency opportunities, and prepares an overview of findings.
- Collaborates with Energy Efficiency, Port Operations, Environmental, Finance (London and Geneva head office) and cross‑functional teams to align business strategy with analytical findings.
- Contributes to simulation projects and research studies aimed at improving predictive accuracy of fuel planning models.
- Replaces manual reporting processes with digitalised research tools, ensuring data integrity and standardisation.
- Provides regular intelligence briefings to senior management on cost trends, consumption efficiency opportunities and business risks.

- Proven experience in business research, data analysis, or related research professional roles.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with demonstrated ability to interpret complex datasets.
- Strong expertise in advanced Excel, SQL, Power BI, and cloud‑based database platforms to support in‑depth research and reporting.
- Prior experience in the shipping, energy, or transport industry is not necessary but a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multi‑disciplinary teams.
