The Head of Environmental Systems Training & Audit manages all compliance training and audit environmental activities of the fleet ensuring operational excellence and adherence to all applicable environmental rules and regulations and Company Policy.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Administration of the Environmental portfolio standard operating procedures section 10. Coordinates with the Environmental Operations Managers to ensure that present and future environmental legislation is assessed and applied appropriately throughout the fleet as needed.
- Manages the Company’s ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 21070:2017 programs and supports ISO 22000 by reference to the standard sections that include environmental program processes.
- Identifies, establishes, implements, and meets targets set for significant environmental aspects within the organization as well as conducts annual reviews which are recorded and communicated properly.
- Planning and management of internal environmental audits, ensuring full compliance with all applicable regulations and Company policies.
- Manages the Fleet Environmental Supervisors program, including scheduling, budgeting and reporting to achieve desirable outcomes.
- Develops reports on findings, identifies safeguards and establishes metrics to demonstrate program effectiveness.
- Monitors vessel operations to ensure compliance with all applicable environmental standards and corporate policies and ensures that such activities are appropriately documented as needed.
- Ensures proper implementation and execution of environmental procedures, manuals, record books, and other applicable environmental documentation.
- Oversees the environmental training program for Environmental Compliance Officers and senior management. Coordinates closely with the Head of safety, D&E training and MSC Academy for the scheduling and curriculum of training activities.
- Collaborates with the new building and R&D teams to evaluate new technologies related to the vessel's environmental footprint and output, resulting in an enhancement to the environmental management plan.
- Participates in all Environmental Department projects and collaborative projects involving other MSC Cruises departments.
- Coordinates and supervises the Ocean Cay Environmental & Social Management system, ensuring proper application of the program. Coordinates and administers the ISO 14001:2015 island program and ensures timely submission of the Monitoring Reports to cognizant organizations. Communicates with Ocean Cay's EHS Officer to ensure that internal and external audits are properly organized.
- Coordinates with Ocean Cay's EHS Officer for island training programs.
QUALIFICATIONS (skills, competencies, experience)
- Fluent in oral and written English. Knowledge of Italian or other European languages is an advantage.
- Environmental science university studies are desirable.
- Post-graduate specific studies in the area of interest preferred.
- A wide knowledge of the Cruise/Maritime industry.
- Experience onboard cruise ships as either Environmental Officer, Deck Officer, or Engineer Officer preferred.
- Previous working experience in the technical environmental area.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office and other company specific operating platforms and databases.
- Able to manage communication at all levels.
- Proven ability to lead, and contribute to a harmonious and productive team environment.
- Ability to understand and interpret various complex regulations and environmental matters.
- Ability to understand and interpret various financial matters affecting the Department.
- Ability to work in a multi-culture and international working environment.
- Ability to perform under pressure.

The existing right to work in the UK is preferred.
