  • Support and facilitate the educational development of medical staff in maritime clinical practice, ensuring consistency and efficiency.
  • Work within the planned budget for the medical education, promote the effective and efficient use of resources and be aware of specific budgetary constraints.
  • Provide medical training on board ensuring that MSC policies, SOPs and standards for clinical practice are fully implemented and adhered to.
  • Participate in induction programs and promote other applicable courses during training sessions.
  • Intervene immediately if unsafe practice is identified and report to the shoreside medical team for further consideration as necessary.
  • Maintain an up-to-date training database ensuring that any deficiencies identified have been addressed.
  • Produce audit reports highlighting areas of concern and develop strategies to address these issues in collaboration with the Lead Physician and shoreside Medical Operations team.
  • Work closely with Clinical Governance and other relevant stakeholders to analyse and report on patient safety issues, patient satisfaction, and quality of care measures.
  • Address any equipment issues and escalate to the shoreside medical facilities team as appropriate.
  • Represent MSC group corporate medical services in a professional and responsible manner.
  • Be fully conversant with all professional codes of conduct and abide by their guidelines.
  • Take responsibility for own professional development, ensuring awareness of latest resuscitation guidelines, medical equipment, and MSC group protocols.
  • Maintain certification as an Advanced Life Support Instructor / Provider, and any other training deemed appropriate to effectively deliver relevant training on board.
  • Ensure that GDPR / HIPPA regulations are always maintained.
  • Travel to any vessel as a member of the Emergency Response team to assist with medical situations as deemed necessary by the Director of Medical Operations.
  • Required to travel extensively to fulfil fleet training requirements.
