Your Purpose
We are pleased to be hiring a new opportunity for an Itinerary Planning Specialist to join our Fleet Operations team. In this role, you will develop and review itineraries for the MSC fleet, using professional nautical tools and company-developed software to achieve short, mid, and long‑term optimization in performing the best itinerary possible from a nautical perspective, having in mind the commercial aspect, the timing, the mileage and taking into consideration the optimal engine configuration and relative fuel consumption.
Your Impact
- Assisting the Senior Manager in the preparation, study and analysis of future itineraries strategy, identifying the best possible itinerary from a nautical perspective using professional nautical tools such as Navigate to obtain the most accurate itinerary profile.
- Preparing new itineraries when required.
- Monitoring the DTS database for specific nautical information: manoeuvring/transit time – distance P2P.
- Maintaining and updating Navigate and checking its proper functionality.
- Preparing maps of the itinerary for commercial purposes.
- Monitoring alignment of the standard route with the route used from the ship.
- Verifying the ship’s voyage schedule is sent and all information is updated, including the ship’s voyage schedule being filled correctly.
- Managing the fleet standard route project.
Your Journey so far
- Experience sailing onboard as a 2nd Officer or higher, preferably within the cruise industry.
- Knowledge of nautical planning strategies and correlated activities is preferred.
- Advanced skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint, with confidence in office automation systems for data analysis and data presentations is preferred.
- Capability to support the itinerary management team, where required.
- Excellent listener and proactive learner, willing to increase own knowledge in planning methodology, technology and ship performance management.
- Excellent analytical, dynamic thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent English and communication skills combined with the ability to work in a team.
- Proactive, curious and open‑mind attitude in order to always have the improvement of the result as a target.
- Proficient in documentation preparation and the ability to utilise data efficiently.
