Are you a finance leader with a passion for operational excellence? At M&S, we’re looking for a Finance Team Leader to coordinate supplier payments and invoice processing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and strong financial control across a high‑volume, high‑value operation. In this pivotal role, you’ll manage the end‑to‑end P2P process, including around 30 weekly supplier payment runs totalling approximately £250m. You’ll also lead a team responsible for processing c.3,000 invoices each week, driving efficient operations, robust controls, and continuous improvement across the P2P function.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing team to deliver accurate, timely processing of around 3,000 invoices per week.
  • Be responsible for weekly supplier payment runs (30 per week), ensuring compliance, completeness, and accuracy across total payments of approx. £250m.
  • Maintain a robust P2P control framework aligned to financial policies, regulatory standards, and audit requirements.
  • Own supplier account reconciliations, aged payables, and key payment‑related balance sheet accounts.
  • Drive continuous improvement across P2P processes, reducing risk and enhancing efficiency and supplier experience.

Who you are

  • A recognised accounting qualification (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong technical expertise across the end‑to‑end Purchase‑to‑Pay process, ideally within a large or shared service environment.
  • Proven leadership capability, with a track record of developing teams and improving performance.
  • Excellent understanding of financial controls, reconciliations, and balance sheet ownership.
  • Strong communication, problem‑solving, and stakeholder‑management skills, with the ability to use metrics to drive performance.
