The Corporate Communications team sits at the centre of how M&S communicates its transformation, culture and strategic priorities. We work closely with leadership across Retail, People, Digital & Tech, ESG, Investor Relations, Legal and the Press Office to tell powerful stories internally and externally. From shaping national media narratives to crafting colleague-facing content that inspires and informs, our team plays a crucial role in building trust, driving engagement and strengthening M&S’s reputation. It’s a collaborative, fast-moving environment where curiosity, creativity and strong influencing skills are essential, and where great storytelling has real impact.

We’re looking for a creative, strategic and high impact Corporate Communications Manager to join the M&S Group Corporate Affairs team at a pivotal moment in our transformation. This is an exciting opportunity to shape how we tell the story of M&S – from showcasing our progress on Retail, People, and D&T transformation, to creating inspiring internal comms that engage 60,000+ colleagues. If you’re passionate about storytelling, thrive in a fast‑paced environment, and love influencing reputation at scale, this role puts you right at the heart of our brand and business journey.

To stay close to customers, our support teams are in the office three days a week as we believe that skills are developed through collaboration, and that spending time together makes us more creative and connected. Due to high interest, this role may close earlier than advertised. We recommend applying as soon as possible.

What you’ll do

  • Deliver corporate communications for Group functions, supporting both internal and external comms for Retail, People, and D&T, aligned to our transformation strategy.
  • Create engaging internal communications that build understanding of key initiatives, drive cultural change, and strengthen colleague connection through newsletters, huddles, town halls and live events, internal social platforms and more.
  • Develop and activate proactive corporate stories, using media, events, broadcasts and owned channels to drive reputation, trust and visibility of key programmes and successes.
  • Lead and support major corporate moments, including the annual retail conference, kick‑off events, leadership presentations, CEO reports, Business Board content and financial calendar storytelling.
  • Partner across Corporate Affairs and the business, working with the press office, content teams, leadership groups, Signal AI, journalists and external stakeholders to shape, prepare and deliver impactful communications.

Who you are

  • An experienced communications professional (7+ years) with a background in corporate or internal comms within retail or a large, complex organisation.
  • A strong storyteller and exceptional writer, able to craft strategic messaging, Q&A, comms plans and narratives for transformation, culture change and performance updates.
  • Confident working at pace, comfortable navigating ambiguity, tight deadlines and competing priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Experienced in content creation and events, including video, blogs, infographics, internal broadcasts or large-scale colleague events.
  • Media-savvy, with proven experience handling journalists, supporting leaders for interviews, and engaging effectively with external stakeholders.

Working at M&S means being part of something bigger – helping to deliver quality, value and service to millions of customers every day. We’re inclusive, fast-moving and always evolving, with a strong sense of purpose and a focus on doing the right thing. Here are just a few of the benefits that make working here even more rewarding:

  • 20% colleague discount on all M&S products and many third‑party brands for you and someone in your household, available once you’ve completed your probation.

  • Strong pension and life assurance to help plan for the future.
  • Tailored induction and training to support your development from day one.
  • Exclusive perks and savings through our M&S Choices portal.
