Role Overview

The Production Manager will lead and form a dedicated team tasked with communicating, processing, and delivering the complete body of work that passes through our production and installation departments. The successful candidate will be responsible for organising and prioritising the workflow to ensure all deadlines are met and that operations flow seamlessly from inception to completion.


Based on forecasted production lead times, the Production Manager will be responsible for the production department and liaising internally with the installation manager to book in orders requiring installation. This pivotal role will benefit from the administrative support of the business support assistant and will report directly to, and be fully supported by, the Senior Management Team.

Key Responsibilities

Workflow & Schedule Management

β€’ Work collaboratively with the Installation Manager to populate, organise, and manage comprehensive installation and production schedules.

β€’ Review installation requirements with the Installation Manager to allocate time and resource the schedule appropriately.

β€’ Check production and installation schedules regularly, ensuring all information is acknowledged by key team members to guarantee delivery on expected dates.

β€’ Carry out routine checks to ensure delivery deadlines are adhered to, identifying and mitigating potential issues as soon as they arise.

β€’ Implement and communicate any schedule changes immediately as they occur.

β€’ Proactively highlight and address pinch points within the production process.


Quality Control & Documentation

β€’ Complete rigorous quality checks of project and job documentation in preparation for production processing, ensuring all quality control (QC) standards have been met.

β€’ Manage job folders for production meticulously.

β€’ Check completed site and production photographs as a primary means of quality checking finished works.

β€’ Action and report on documentation for root cause analysis and the thorough evaluation of issues or problems.

β€’ Manage purchasing and product delivery documentation in strict accordance with company standards.


Supply Chain & Resource Management

β€’ Research the best prices for stock and material items, actively identifying, vetting, and approving new suppliers.

β€’ Liaise with couriers to ensure all deliveries and goods collections meet target timelines, intervening promptly when issues occur.

β€’ Source and acquire estimates from sub-contractors for production as required to maintain schedule commitments.


Team Leadership & Operations

β€’ Manage the production team, ensuring all duties are performed to the correct standards and company expectations.

β€’ Provide additional hands-on support in the production and printing work areas as relevant to the operational needs of the business.

β€’ Monitor and report on health and safety practices within the production area to senior health and safety staff.

β€’ Liaise closely with the Account Management and Sales teams to ensure all specific requirements of each project are met.

β€’ Report directly to the Senior Management Team, providing regular updates on production status and operational performance.

Desired requirements

β€’ Industry Experience: Proven experience within the signage industry is highly desirable and strongly preferred.

β€’ Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead, organise, and motivate a production team.

β€’ Organisational Skills: Exceptional time-management and scheduling abilities, with a keen eye for detail.

β€’ Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement effective solutions.

β€’ Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective liaison across internal departments, external suppliers, and clients.

β€’ Health & Safety: A solid understanding of workplace health and safety regulations, particularly within a manufacturing or production environment.
