Senior Underwriter – Power & Renewables (London)

Overview
Our underwriters are at the heart of everything we do; without them our business wouldn’t function. The role holder is accountable for ensuring the effective delivery of the vision and the strategy for a specific portfolio or market within the Natural Resources business plan.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the effective delivery of client portfolio strategies and business plans, aligning with strategy, client relations and profitable growth.
- Participate in and contribute to client segmentation and product forum activities, clarifying the approach to specific clients and markets.
- Lead the strategic direction of portfolios and deliver designated elements of the strategy and business plan.
- Demonstrate client‑intimacy behaviours and strategies across the location, market, region and entities.
- Work in partnership within the entity and across regions to leverage relationships and opportunities.
- Generate and manage business on a client‑relationship basis within agreed portfolios and markets.
- Align with and deliver tactical and strategic client‑intimacy initiatives in the location/market.
- Oversee issue resolution, including liaison for effective conclusions to complaints and claims.
- Undertake analysis of the location/market to identify new business opportunities, products and clients, ensuring robust business cases.
- Write risks within agreed parameters, making sound long‑term decisions focused on smart underwriting rationale.
- Provide oversight and input into underwriting performance; liaise to ensure regional compliance and take corrective action as necessary.
- Proactively participate in product forum meetings, challenging and responding to product performance issues.
- Conduct the role in accordance with the Company’s Business Ethics policy and all relevant regulated entities.
- Manage the location/market so it complies with relevant risk, regulatory and legal requirements and group policies.
Qualifications & Experience
- In‑depth knowledge, expertise and strong experience of the Natural Resources market.
- Strong understanding of relevant risk, regulatory and legal requirements.
- Deep understanding of client‑intimacy and its impact on strategy.
- Strong business and commercial market awareness.
- Excellent networking and management of new and existing client relationships.
- Experience in implementing and delivering clear underwriting strategies.
- Strong analytical skills to identify new business opportunities, products and clients.
