Our Underwriters are central to our operations, enabling our business to function effectively.
The Underwriter is a key member of the underwriting team, empowered to make sound decisions and contribute to the operational delivery of our strategy. The individual will be responsible for maintaining and expanding profitable business for MS AUL while minimizing loss exposure.
About The Job
What you’ll do:
Collaborate with the Product Group Leader to set the strategic direction for the Specialty lines underwritten within the team, ensuring the effective delivery of the Reinsurance strategy and business plan.
Manage lines of business including Global Agriculture treaty, Political violence treaty, Nuclear, Contingency, and Engineering.
Identify and pursue opportunities to enhance our Reinsurance proposition and strategic goals, working closely with the team.
Develop and proactively manage designated business using relevant resources.
Lead by demonstrating behaviors and strategies in the market.
Partner with other entities to leverage relationships and opportunities.
Create a Marketing Plan with the Underwriting Team to provide a clear annual business direction and targets.
Maintain regular contact with brokers and clients, both physically and virtually.
Analyze risks and ensure they are underwritten within agreed parameters to make profitable, long-term decisions.
Negotiate wordings in line with corporate standards.
Build and maintain effective relationships with clients and brokers, demonstrating understanding of their business and value addition.
Manage the department\’s business to ensure compliance with risk tolerances, regulations, and legal requirements.
Analyze the portfolio to identify new business opportunities, products, and clients, ensuring robust business cases.
Liaise to ensure regional compliance with underwriting management, taking corrective actions when necessary.
Represent yourself and your class in external activities, groups, and committees.
Review underwriting figures regularly to identify trends or adverse movements for appropriate action.
Collaborate with other teams, act as a peer reviewer, and leverage relationships aligned with the company strategy.
