This role supports the Head of Marketing & Communications with a focus on content development, effective employee engagement and internal campaign management. The Internal Communications Manager will be responsible for finding and creating top-quality content for our channels that helps build recognition, understanding, engagement, and pride in our strategy. Sharing business successes and progress with our people will also help to foster a positive MS Amlin culture.
About The Job
What you’ll spend your time doing:
- Thinking strategically, you’ll consider how all the pieces of the jigsaw fit together and help organise our communications so they make sense to the intended audience, building a narrative over time that sticks.
- A natural at building a network of contacts and developing stakeholder relationships, you’ll meet with key people at all levels in the organisation to source, develop and refine content. This includes various stakeholder groups including our Executive Committee and senior leaders across the business. Once established, you’ll be the ‘go-to’ person when it comes to creating, leveraging and sharing news.
- You’ll create and own a variety of internal communications, developing content and thinking about how all our stories weave together to form an engaging narrative for stakeholders. Lead the planning and delivery of strategic internal communications that support business priorities and strengthen employee understanding and engagement.
- Understanding that a channel mix is important when it comes to engaging with our people, you’ll consider the best way to reach people, depending on the message and intended audience. Key channels include Townhalls, emails, events, in-office TV screens, our intranet and more.
- With a key focus on helping to bring every aspect of our company to life, and proving strategic updates/stories, your content will celebrate stories on a diverse range of topics including culture, inter-company dynamics, inclusion and sustainability.
- You will create content and material that wherever possible can be utilised for external audiences, feeding into outputs such as thought leadership, social media, campaigns and more.
- Our internal communications channels are evolving and you’ll spend time helping to improve them while also being responsible for their day-to-day management. You’ll also work with content owners across the business to keep the news flow and content up to date and relevant.
- You’ll play a key role in defining and articulating our Employee Value Proposition, so understanding what matters to people and how to turn that into engaging content will be key.
- You’ll use insight, feedback and engagement measures to continuously refine content, channels and storytelling approaches.
- You’ll be a communications ambassador, passionate about getting people engaged with our strategy, values and behaviours.
- You’ll play an increasingly important role working with intra-group companies to ensure MS Amlin is seen as leading the way on promoting our broader group values, strategy, heritage and opportunities.
What skills you’ll need:
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship skills. You must work well in a small team and be able to operate with senior executive leaders simultaneously.
- First class copywriting and storytelling will come naturally, and while some stories are from technical areas you’ll have the ability to simplify content so everyone can understand any message.
- You’ll have an eye and an ear for stories, and spotting communications opportunities where others miss them.
- Applying a consistent tone and style, with a keen eye for correct spelling, grammar and effective editing.
- Being organised with a flair for planning ahead, flexing quickly when things change or when something lands at the last minute, as it often does.
- Being curious and challenging the status quo thoughtfully, thinking beyond individual announcements and planning communications as part of a broader narrative with tenacity and resilience.
You’ll also need:
- Solid Microsoft Office skills.
- Experience of communications within financial service markets (ideal but not required).
- Experience of running or managing employee communications platforms, for example Sharepoint intranet, Viva Engage and email broadcast systems such as Popullo.
