The global geopolitical landscape has been incredibly volatile in recent years. With the Russia-Ukraine war, rising tensions in the Middle East, and violent protests in the United States, it's clear that insurance plays a pivotal role in ensuring the continuity of businesses and services across the globe. Our underwriters use innovative methods to write profitable business while maintaining a high-quality product for our clients. The insights provided by the Exposure Management function are integral to risk selection and portfolio optimisation.
Within Exposure Management, the Crisis Management team uses exposure capture and reporting systems to provide analysis on MS Amlin's Political Violence and Political Risk classes. These insights enable Executives and Underwriters to make informed decisions that drive overall profitability and achieve strategic targets. As a member of the team, you'll work on challenging problems in a collaborative environment while developing your knowledge and advancing your career.
Inter-Business Relationships- Bring clarity, transparency, and understanding to users and clients of Exposure Management data and analytics.
- Serve as a key point of contact for underwriters and stakeholders regarding pricing of accounts and portfolio reporting.
- Maintain and build strong relationships with Underwriting, Claims, Pricing, and Underwriting Performance teams, engaging in constructive discussions with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Assist in producing weekly reports for underwriters, offering insights on portfolio movements, including commentary on positions relative to tolerances and MS Amlin's exposure in geopolitically sensitive regions.
- Conduct exposure capture and modelling of pricing and portfolio risks, and provide peer review for high complexity risks captured and modelled by Genpact, to enhance their underwriting capabilities on all open market and delegated pricing, and portfolio requests, by the required deadlines.
- Collaborate with the underwriters to build out new reports and tools, supporting them at the point of underwriting, and improving their visibility on the exposure profile across all perils.
- Work with Genpact (our outsourced support team) to streamline processes, assist in report production, and contribute commentary.
- Contribute to proactive portfolio optimisation and other value-adding tasks, including supporting Senior Analysts in the development and maintenance of tools to assist underwriting decisions, identifying patterns and anomalies in data, assessing and projecting risk exposure, supporting event response coordination, and participating in project work and initiatives, including reinsurance support.
- Assist with internal and external reporting requirements.
- Support Senior Analysts in designing and implementing risk management strategies aligned with business goals.
- Contribute to governance activities by helping gather relevant data to support decision-making.
- Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the Company's Business Ethics policy and relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Help ensure that underwritten risks comply with applicable regulatory, legal, and business standards.
For this role, we're looking for candidates with the following qualifications and experience:
- Experience in non-natural catastrophe exposure management is desirable.
- Strong coding skills in SQL are highly desirable; experience with Python and Power BI is a plus.
- Active interest in Geopolitics is desirable.
- Experience using Sequel Impact, Allphins, or Exposure IQ is desirable.
- Good understanding of insurance terms and conditions is essential.
- Ability to extract meaningful insights from data, present them clearly, and explain findings to non-technical audiences.
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to engage with underwriters and other stakeholders.
