The Business Development Manager for the Midlands, Wales, and Norfolk region plays a vital role in advancing this strategy locally by targeting emerging distribution channels, identifying new client segments, and optimising existing initiatives. With digital underwriting as the primary route for business under £20k GWP, this role is key to driving growth in this fast-evolving space within the specified territories.

The insurance market across the Midlands, Wales, and Norfolk is evolving, with digital solutions gaining significant momentum. These changes profoundly affect MSIG Europe UK distribution strategy, which encompasses multiple channels including broker portals, broker and market initiatives, affinities and bespoke solutions across a wide range and size of client needs. Our strategic platform will support this multichannel approach, providing flexibility to seize diverse opportunities within these regions.
Success in this role requires a deep understanding of the local market and strong business case development skills — balancing commercial potential, strategic alignment, and operational impact specifically within the Midlands, Wales, and Norfolk markets. The Business Development Manager will be instrumental in realising long-term profitable growth by combining commercial insight with an appreciation of digital workflows and their downstream effects in these territories.
The role demands close collaboration with key internal stakeholders including Underwriting, Product development and Marketing to execute local business cases and optimise performance. Key responsibilities include:
- Onboarding and managing brokers in Midlands, Wales, and Norfolk to increase distribution volumes while balancing commission structures
- Securing deals of significant size and identifying new distribution opportunities within the region
- Enhancing broker management and performance metrics regionally
- Building a strong new business pipeline and seeing it through to completion
- Key Responsibilities
- Onboard and expand the network of brokers engaging with MSIG Europe UK’s digital offerings specifically in Midlands, Wales, and Norfolk
- Improve broker performance metrics such as quote volumes and hit ratios within the region
- Support SME business migration from commercial and operational perspectives in these territories
- Collaborate with Marketing to generate leads and enhance brand presence locally
- Define and communicate the local Digital proposition effectively to the Midlands, Wales, and Norfolk market
- Assist in implementing digital marketing plans alongside the marketing team targeting these regions
- Identify and develop new digital business opportunities, including new channels and customer segments in the Midlands, Wales, and Norfolk
- Lead and support sales initiatives aimed at driving digital top-line growth within the specified area
- Facilitate the development and integration of innovative insurance solutions locally
- Monitor, analyse, and report on performance metrics to guide decision-making and enhance results regionally
- Conduct market scans to track competitors, software providers, and renewal opportunities within Midlands, Wales, and Norfolk

- Identify improvements to the Digital Customer Journey and portal value-added services within the region
