The Intercom Technical Lead plays a crucial role in MRTC’s customer-facing operations, providing exceptional on-site technical support to global motorsport and event-based customers in both individual and team environments. The role requires extensive subject-matter expertise in a variety of communication systems, ensuring that MRTC’s wide range of equipment performs flawlessly under demanding conditions.
In addition to assisting with trackside support, the Intercom Technical Lead is responsible for system design, management and documentation, coordination with customers, users and staff, and ticket resolution support. As part of MRTC’s Intercom Department, the Intercom Technical Lead is required to travel extensively to a range of motorsport venues. - Troubleshoot and resolve communication equipment issues in real time.
- Perform advanced-level training for customers and internal departments regarding proper use and logical troubleshooting of systems.
- Manage intercom systems at a variety of events, utilising time prioritisation to support multiple customers and their communication requirements.
Essential Skills:
- Significant experience in technical support, preferably in motorsport, broadcast, AV, or military.
- Extensive experience with Clear-Com, Riedel, RTS, or Green-GO intercom systems, including Logic, script-writing, and sub-level diagnostics.
- Advanced knowledge and practical application of audio protocols, such as AES67, Dante, or MADI.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in time-sensitive situations.
- Exceptional time management and organisational skills.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Professional outlook, positively influencing team members and customers, championing values, and driving standards.
- Willingness to travel extensively to race events (both nationally and internationally, for approximately 120 days a year), in addition to working from the Intercom Department and providing remote support to live events.
- Valid driver's licence with clean driving record.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced use of network and audio diagnostic equipment.
- Excellent understanding of managed network switches (Cisco and Netgear AV Line), routing, VPN (OVPN), and other remote technologies.

- Netgear AV Level 2 certification or equivalent.
- Deployment of AES67/Dante Domain Manager in a temporary event environment.
- Experience of other AoIP technologies, such as RAVENNA.
Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of race operations and procedures.
