The Intermediate Radio Technician is responsible for the installation, programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting of RF radio and communication systems used in demanding motorsport and live event environments. Based at Stanford House, this role involves working with a range of cutting‑edge communication equipment, including radio, intercom systems, antennas, and associated RF infrastructure. The successful candidate will support both workshop‑based preparation and on‑site deployment of communication systems. This includes configuring radio testing equipment, diagnosing faults, and ensuring reliable operations during events. They will also assist with system builds, equipment servicing, and technical support for internal departments and customers.

The Intermediate Radio Technician is expected to maintain high technical standards while working in a fast‑paced workshop environment, often under tight deadlines aligned with global race calendars. The role requires a proactive and detail‑oriented approach, with an ability to work both independently and collaboratively within the technical team.

Responsibilities:
  • Programming and maintaining two‑way and RF communication systems.
  • Diagnosing and repairing faults on RF radio equipment, and related infrastructure.
  • Carrying out system testing, commissioning, and performance verification.
  • Providing technical support and troubleshooting for customers and internal departments.
  • Maintaining accurate service records and documentation.
Experience:
  • Experience of RF communication systems.
  • Knowledge of Kenwood/Motorola radios (programming, configuration, and servicing).
  • Prior use of spectrum analyser/tracking generator/RF test sets.
  • Good understanding of RF principles.
  • Experience of radio infrastructure installation.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair technical faults efficiently.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
Desired Skills:
  • Experience with digital radio systems (DMR, NXDN, or similar).
  • Basic networking knowledge of IP‑based radio systems.
  • Knowledge of trunk or TETRA‑based systems.
