An established UK specialist in high-reliability electronic components is looking to appoint a Technical Sales Engineer to support and develop customers across the UK. Representing a broad portfolio of passive, interconnect, power, semiconductor, electromechanical and other specialist component technologies, the successful candidate will work closely with engineering and procurement teams to identify new opportunities, support component selection and drive design-in activity. This is a highly consultative position suited to someone with a strong electronic or electrical engineering background who enjoys solving technical challenges, building long-term customer relationships and turning engineering requirements into commercial opportunities across demanding markets including aerospace, defence, space, rail and industrial.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and commercial support to customers throughout the UK.
  • Act as a key technical point of contact for both internal and external sales teams.
  • Support customers with new designs, qualification projects and design-in opportunities.
  • Provide technical guidance on applications, product suitability and component selection.
  • Attend customer meetings, site visits, exhibitions and supplier meetings when required.
  • Identify and develop new opportunities within both existing customers and prospective accounts.
  • Support the growth of key manufacturer franchises and wider supplier development plans.
  • Work closely with sales, product management, quality, engineering and supplier teams to deliver effective customer solutions.
  • Support technical presentations, product training and joint customer visits with manufacturer partners.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer activity, opportunities, visit reports and sales forecasts.
  • Provide valuable market feedback covering customer requirements, competitor activity, industry trends and emerging technologies.

Requirements

  • Experience in Technical Sales, Applications Engineering, FAE or a Product Specialist role within electronic components.
  • Strong understanding of electronic and/or electromechanical components and their applications.
  • Experience supporting component selection, customer designs and design-in opportunities.
  • Confident working with engineering, procurement and commercial teams.
  • Commercially aware with the ability to identify and develop new opportunities.
  • Experience within aerospace, defence, space, rail, industrial or other high-reliability markets would be beneficial.
  • Technical knowledge across some of the following: passives, magnetics, power, electromechanical, EMC, RF, sensors and semiconductors.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly.
  • Electrical/Electronic Engineering qualification would be advantageous.
  • Experience with franchised manufacturers, high-reliability applications or aerospace and defence standards would be beneficial.
