An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced team leader to oversee the daily operations of a highly successful excess stock management division within a leading international distributor of electronic components. This Commodity Manager role offers full responsibility for the end-to-end performance of both the procurement and sales functions, supporting a diverse customer base across multiple countries. The successful candidate will lead a team, manage key supplier relationships, drive strategic negotiations, and ensure the efficient supply and sale of surplus electronic components.
The division focuses on the procurement and resale of excess inventory, delivering core services including global supply chain coordination, surplus stock sales, and strategic supplier engagement. This position blends operational leadership with commercial strategy and provides the autonomy to make a tangible impact within a fast-paced business embarking on an ambitious growth journey. Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, it is an ideal opportunity for a commercially minded individual with strong leadership skills and operational experience, looking to contribute to a growing international enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance, and professional development to the XS team
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities and emerging market trends within the excess electronic components sector to drive revenue growth
- Oversee pricing strategy in line with the company’s in-house pricing workflow
- Build and maintain strong, proactive relationships with existing customers to enhance retention and sales opportunities
- Collaborate closely with the sales team to maximise sales of excess stock
- Oversee order processing, ensuring on-time delivery and providing logistical support to the excess purchasing function
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer records within the internal CRM system
- Monitor, measure, and report on customer activity and performance metrics
- Track and report internal KPIs to support continuous improvement and operational efficiency
- Effectively manage time and resources to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual targets
- Work in partnership with the in-house marketing team to promote services and generate interest among target customers
- Respond promptly to customer service enquiries, including managing QC and RMA processes to ensure high levels of satisfaction
- Coordinate with the Sales Account Manager to ensure all RFQs (Requests for Quotation) are completed accurately and within required timeframes
