About the role

Mrs. Alice is a fast growing homewares brand designing and curating seasonal collections of tablescapes, tableware and homeware. We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Merchandiser to work alongside the Buying, Fulfilment and Ecommerce teams to take responsibility for the merchandising function of Mrs. Alice, maximising brand growth through dynamic management of stock and budgets across all product categories.

As Merchandiser, you will take a lead on ensuring the proper management and optimisation of stock in the business through reporting, forecasting, repurchasing, inventory admin and key supplier support. The successful candidate will be someone who will relish the challenge of scaling a fast growing business alongside a small team, someone who's experienced in merchandising, motivated to get hands-on and take responsibilities outside their role.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting, Forecasting & Strategy
    • Create and regularly upkeep set of historical stock & sales reports and forecasts.
    • Collaborate with the buying team to provide forecasts and performance insights by category and territory to support range planning.
    • Work proactively with senior management to recommend sales, stock and margin targets in line with the company's growth.
  • Stock Management
    • Through collaboration with the warehouse team, ensure all stock is properly receipted, recorded and that the correct inventory is kept up to date.
    • Work alongside the buying & ecommerce teams to ensure new products are correctly created and updated on our backend ecommerce & inventory systems.
    • Working alongside our 3rd-party accountants and bookkeepers to ensure supplier invoices and stock are properly accounted for.
  • Repurchasing
    • Ensure we are properly stocked by taking proactive ownership over our full collection to make weekly recommendations on stock that needs to be repurchased.
    • Manage the communication of these recommendations to the buying team.
  • Supplier Optimisation
    • Work with the buying team to develop forecasts and joint strategies with suppliers.
    • Review supplier terms & margins in order to recommend areas for improvement.
  • Merchandising Team Management
    • Hire and manage merchandising admin assistants or other roles where required to maintain the optimal running of the merchandising function.

Qualifications

  • Must have experience in a high growth direct to consumer business. Home category experience preferred.
  • Proven track record and recent comparable experience in mid or senior level merchandising roles for 4+ years.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of and experience implementing merchandising systems and processes.
  • Advanced excel/google sheet skills and confidence working with large data sets, and a variety of reporting tools.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-moving dynamic retail environment.
  • Confidence to engage with design & buying team to influence buying decisions.
  • Strong commercial, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Experience managing teams/direct reports.
