MRR Infrastructure is delighted to be supporting a leading organisation within the transmission and grid connections sector that has secured a major transmission-connected project and is looking to appoint an experienced Lead Project Manager to drive delivery from the current stage through to energisation. This is a high-profile opportunity supporting a complex grid connection project interfacing directly with National Grid transmission infrastructure, involving significant stakeholder management, programme ownership, redesign activities, procurement coordination, and delivery leadership.
The project is currently entering a critical phase and requires an experienced Project Manager capable of taking ownership of delivery, managing National Grid interfaces, and coordinating multiple workstreams. Project scope includes:
- Transmission-connected project in Hartlepool.
- Existing solar infrastructure largely constructed.
- Large-scale BESS integration planned.
- Significant design coordination and redevelopment activities required.
- Long lead procurement management.
- National Grid stakeholder engagement and governance management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead project delivery from current stage through to energisation.
- Manage and coordinate the National Grid interface throughout delivery.
- Chair and attend meetings with National Grid stakeholders and client teams.
- Coordinate design development and multidisciplinary activities.
- Manage procurement activities, particularly long lead items.
- Oversee programme management, budgets and cash flow forecasting.
- Manage subcontractors, consultants and key stakeholders.
- Support client relationships and ensure project objectives are achieved.
- Drive project governance, reporting and delivery milestones.
Candidate Requirements
Essential Experience
- Proven Project Management experience within transmission or grid infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of National Grid governance, terminology, processes and delivery frameworks.
- Experience managing stakeholder interfaces within complex infrastructure projects.
- Ability to coordinate design, procurement and delivery activities.
- Strong client-facing communication and leadership skills.
Highly Desirable
- Previous National Grid experience or direct National Grid interface exposure.
- Experience delivering transmission-connected renewable energy projects.
- BESS and grid connection project experience.
- Understanding of outage planning and transmission delivery processes.
- National Grid authorisations or experience operating within National Grid safety rules.
