A hands-on commercial leadership role with a group-backed, independent hire business entering its next phase of growth.
The opportunity
Our client is a well-established hire business with a strong heritage, a loyal customer base and significant scope to grow. The business is now looking to appoint a Sales Director who can bring greater commercial discipline, sales leadership and momentum to the organisation. This is not a purely strategic or desk-based role. The successful candidate will be expected to lead from the front: winning business personally, developing key customer relationships, improving the sales team and building a more structured, accountable and scalable sales function.
What you will be doing
- Develop and execute a practical sales strategy focused on profitable growth.
- Personally lead key account, new business and senior customer activity.
- Build stronger sales process, pipeline discipline, CRM usage and reporting.
- Coach, challenge and develop a small but growing sales team.
- Improve customer targeting, account segmentation and sales productivity.
- Work closely with the MD to shape the next stage of commercial growth.
What we are looking for
- A proven sales leader from hire or rental or a closely related B2B sector.
- Strong personal sales capability and a credible customer network.
- A track record of growing revenue through both personal effort and team leadership.
- Comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial, hands-on environment.
- Structured, data-aware and process-minded, without being overly corporate.
- Access equipment knowledge and relevant market relationships beneficial.
Why this should be interesting
- A visible senior leadership role where the right person can make a genuine commercial impact.
- A business with established heritage, group backing and appetite to invest for growth.
- The chance to professionalise a sales function rather than simply inherit a finished machine.
- A broad equipment proposition, service-led differentiation and clear headroom for expansion.
- Autonomy, direct access to the MD and the opportunity to help shape the future sales platform.
