Our client is seeking a Service Modeler / CMDB Technical Consultant for the design, creation, and ongoing management of service models and their supporting CMDB structures. The role plays a key part in enabling effective Service Asset and Configuration Management (SACM) by ensuring configuration items (CIs), relationships, and service models are maintained throughout their lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Own and manage the creation, maintenance, and evolution of service models and associated CMDB structures.
- Analyse complex service architectures, identifying configuration items (CIs), components, and relationships; document and build these within the CMDB.
- Define and maintain service model structures that accurately represent business, application, infrastructure, and (where applicable) OT environments.
- Manage the service model lifecycle, including onboarding, change, retirement, and the automation that supports these stages.
- Design, implement, and iteratively improve automation for service modelling, discovery, and relationship population.
- Ensure CMDB data quality, integrity, and compliance with SACM policies and governance standards.
- Apply ITIL best practices, with a strong focus on Service Asset and Configuration Management (SACM), ensuring traceability, impact analysis, and support for incident, problem, and change processes.
- Collaborate with architecture, operations, and service management teams to align service models with operational and business requirements.
Required Experience
- Hands-on experience with CMDB platforms and service modelling tools, preferably OT uCMDB.
- Strong understanding of CI classes, relationship types, and service modelling patterns.
- Experience integrating discovery tools and data sources into a federated or integrated CMDB landscape.
