Our client is seeking a Configuration Manager responsible for governing the lifecycle, integrity, and quality of configuration items (CIs) within the CMDB.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full configuration item (CI) lifecycle, including identification, control, status accounting, verification, and audit.
- Define, maintain, and govern CI baselines, including baseline mapping and ongoing compliance.
- Ensure consistent application of CI naming conventions, classification standards, and data quality rules.
- Support and contribute to service modelling activities, ensuring CI structures, relationships, and dependencies accurately represent services.
- Manage and enhance discovery capabilities, including automated population of CIs, relationship mapping, and ongoing optimisation of discovery processes.
- Lead CI reconciliation and de-duplication activities across multiple data sources to maintain a single, trusted source of configuration data.
- Collaborate with configuration and platform teams to design, build, and maintain configuration management tools, automations, and system integrations.
- Ensure alignment between Configuration Management and Asset Management practices, including Software Asset Management (SAM) and Hardware Asset Management (HAM).
- Apply ITIL best practices, with a strong focus on Service Asset and Configuration Management (SACM), to ensure governance, traceability, and lifecycle control of assets and configuration items.
Required Experience
- Hands‑on experience with CMDB platforms, preferably OT uCMDB.
- Experience working in environments with multiple discovery sources and integrated configuration data.
- Strong understanding of SACM governance, audits, and continual improvement practices.
