A global organisation are looking for an experienced Operational Technology (OT) Security Engineer with Lab experience to join a global R&D team. You will play a key role in securing and managing OT environments, supporting new implementations to manage firewall policy and support OT security controls within the OT and IT environment.
This will be a 6-12 months contract opportunity with the possibility for multiple extensions.
The position is based on-site in Greater London, UK.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lab Security Support
β Oversee and maintain OT security controls in lab-based environments used for R&D operations. - Network Security
β Implement and manage network segmentation, access controls (user/vendor), and secure wireless communication. - Firewall Policy Management
β Own and deliver firewall policy; engage with firewall change processes and tools (e.g
.
Zscaler, Dynamic Edge Segmentation (DES)). - Incident Management
β Serve as the lead contact for OT-related incidents, ensuring rapid technical resolution. - Device Management
β Work closely with R&D and global teams to secure OT assets to internal standards. - Vulnerability Management
β Identify, assess, and prioritise vulnerabilities based on business risk. - Patch Management
β Coordinate with R&D lines and vendors to validate and deploy security updates for OT environments. - Security Controls Deployment
β Lead deployment of new OT security controls, including user training and awareness. - Quality, risk and compliance
β Ensure alignment with GxP, internal risk policies, and relevant life sciences regulations.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Lab experience in a life sciences organisation (e.g., biotech, pharma, clinical R&D).
- Proven background in technical/lab support β equipment, software, or lab infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, and OT/IT integrations.
- Strong understanding of network architecture and segmentation.
- Experience managing firewall policies and working with policy engines.
- Knowledge of OT security standards, patching, and incident response in technical settings.
- Strong grasp of compliance and cybersecurity in regulated industries.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certifications such as GICSP, CompTIA Security+, CISSP, ISA/IEC 62443.
- Experience working in pharmaceutical, clinical, or regulated R&D environments.
- Familiarity with cloud security standards and hybrid/cloud-first environments.
