SQL Database Administrator required to join a major enterprise client on a long-term engagement, working full-time on-site in Manchester within a secure environment, with competitive rates.

This role requires eligibility to undergo BPSS and SC clearance.

You’ll provide subject matter expertise across Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL environments, supporting enterprise-level database operations across production, UAT and development environments with a strong focus on performance, availability, security and reliability.

  • Administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL databases across enterprise environments.
  • Manage clustering, replication, backups, patching and database upgrades.
  • Provide third-line support and resolve database incidents through ITIL/service management processes.
  • Monitor and optimise database performance, capacity and availability.
  • Create, maintain and deploy SSIS packages.
  • Support Azure-based database environments, including Azure VMs and Azure DevOps.
  • Troubleshoot Power BI Report Server access and performance issues, including upgrades and SSL certificates.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing and mentor junior DBAs.

About You

  • Strong Microsoft SQL Server experience, ideally SQL Server 2016 onwards.
  • Significant experience with T-SQL, stored procedures and triggers.
  • Strong experience across SQL Server and MySQL administration.
  • Experience with Azure VMs, Windows Server and Azure DevOps.
  • Hands-on SSIS experience.
  • Knowledge of Power BI Report Server and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with SCOM and/or Azure Monitor.
  • Experience with ServiceNow or similar ITIL service management tools.
  • PowerShell knowledge is desirable.
  • Azure Database Administrator Associate or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • ITIL Foundation certification is desirable.
