Experienced Head of Engineering required to join a London based end user to lead the engineering organisation in an exciting cloud and AI driven environment. Permanent role offering a base salary up to £150,000 per annum + Bonus (up to 40%) and generous benefits package. This is an excellent opportunity for a proven leader who can take ownership of the client's technical direction over multiple modernisation and cloud driven migration initiatives. The organisation is adopting AI first, agentic and context-driven engineering strategies. This is a regulated environment so the client requires someone with this experience - ideally financial services.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Lead the development and delivery of the clients Engineering roadmap
  • Adoption of modern practices
  • Champion the shift towards AI, agentic & context-driven engineering
  • Technical leadership - oversight on all major decisions
  • People & culture - Manage multiple Engineering Managers and take responsibility for a high-performance culture
  • Stakeholder management - work with the business partners to ensure effective partnerships and business buy-in
  • Responsible for major incident escalation

Key experience required:

  • Proven experience working in Engineering Leadership responsible for multiple technical initiatives
  • Extensive management experience - managing multiple Engineering Managers and teams
  • In-depth technical understanding of engineering practices (hands on knowledge) including; Software development, Software Architecture, Cloud Architecture, CI / CD & DevSecOps, Observability & Security
  • Legacy migration experience (balancing legacy platforms with modern technology)
  • Extensive stakeholder management - commercial and technical stakeholders
  • Experience in financial services or regulated environments
