We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading company in the data centre industry, for an experienced Sales Engineer to support business growth in the North of the UK. This role combines technical expertise and commercial acumen, helping clients identify and implement the best data centre solutions for their needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the sales team and customers to provide technical solutions and product expertise.
  • Conduct site visits, customer meetings, and technical presentations to demonstrate data centre solutions.
  • Assess client requirements and develop tailored technical proposals, system designs, and cost estimates.
  • Support the bidding and tendering process, ensuring accuracy in documentation and pricing.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, offering guidance on colocation, power, cooling, and infrastructure solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and project teams to ensure smooth implementation of solutions.
  • Keep up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor offerings.
  • Provide ongoing technical support to customers, resolving queries and ensuring satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, tracking leads, proposals, and sales pipeline.

Requirements

  • Technical qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, or IT Engineering (or relevant experience).
  • Experience in sales engineering, pre-sales, or technical consultancy, preferably within the data centre, IT, or infrastructure industries.
  • Strong knowledge of critical power, cooling, networking, and data centre design.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex solutions into customer-friendly discussions.
  • Commercial awareness, with experience in proposal writing, pricing, and contract negotiation.
  • Self-motivated and able to manage multiple projects across a large geographic region.
  • Proficiency in CRM tools (Salesforce preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to travel regularly across the North of the UK.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
